Let's take a trip
back in time when arranged marriages took place. Would you honor
the contract made and be dutiful?
Do you just love a man in a
kilt? Can forgiveness and trust be won again?
Lady Mary Mac
Lachland is refusing to marry Alexander Campbell on the grounds of
betrayal, she'll give her bairn up to
him to raise before she will
give him the right to touch her again. She gave Alexander her heart
willing to honor the
contract until he took her choice away from
her. She has only seen her father Collin three times in a twelve
year period.
She has accepted the fact that he has no love for her
and that she is only a pawn in his machinations. He chose to have
his daughter raised by another and she is denied a mother's love.
Alexander sees
Mary as a haven of peace amid the fighting and bloodshed. He values
her greatly however, to save her
from Bearach he steals her
virginity from her. Unknown to Mary her father wanted to break the
contract and start a war
between Bearach's clan and the Campbell's
where there is already unrest. Alexander had hopes of saving Mary's
life,
his men and forcing Collin to honor the contract by claiming
Mary as his. She is so angry that she refuses his marriage
despite
being pregnant.
Lady Mary has few
choices left to her. Will she marry Alexander? Can the love each
has for the other be cleansed and
renewed? Will Mary force her own
child to grow up without a mother's love? Will Alexander have to
kidnap Mary for
her own safety?
Ms. Reasor did a
fantastic job, when she crafted HIGHLAND MOONLIGHT. To bring
warring clans together a daughter
is always sacrificed it is the way
of the highlander clans. I like that the couple had to overcome
problems and that the
love grew despite mistakes made. All the
right pieces came together beautifully. No complaints from this
reviewer.
For a debut this is better than one would expect.

Marilyn
Rondeau of CKs Kwips and Kritiques had this to say about Highland
Moonlight:

I can usually tell from
the very first pages how
I’m going to like a book
and from the very first
pages of Highland
Moonlight, I was
hooked; so much so that
this was read non-stop
from beginning to the
marvelous conclusion!
After being humiliated
and ruined by Alexander
Campbell, the warrior
she was betrothed to,
Lady Mary MacLachlan
runs away. Hurt beyond
all measure by the
betrayal of the man she
was prepared to accept
as her husband and the
devilish machinations of
her own father Collin
willing to barter her
for his own gain, she
led them all on a merry
chase as she fled to the
Campbell stronghold of
Castle Lorne demanding
Alex’s father for
sanctuary against her
father and his son for
her and her bairn.
Alexander was frustrated
that he’d completely
destroyed any chance
he’d had for his dream
of a family and the loss
of his honor with Mary,
who wouldn’t even look
at him except from the
back end of cross-bow.
At the time he seduced
Mary, he convinced
himself it was for her
protection as well as
for his men, knowing
that Collin MacLachlan
was manipulating events
for his own greedy
purposes.
Alexander now
sought only to protect
and claim Mary as his
wife and gain his unborn
bairn. However, in
trying to stir up
trouble Collin forces a
council of arbitration
to judge Alexander
guilty of rape with the
clans gathered round
just itching for a
fight. At thispoint
Mary doesn’t know who
she hates more. Having
first hand knowledge of
how Collin was using her
as a bargaining chip in
order to gather more
power and money while
suggesting she marry
another whom she
despised as brutal and
piggish; Mary defied
Collin and requested the
priest to immediately
wed her to Alexander.
It may not have been the
most joyous of occasions
but thinking Mary could
have demanded her
revenge against him
Alexander was elated
and hoped that within
time he could convince
Mary of his true
regard.
Scottish historical
romances have always
fascinated me especially
when an author can imbue
her characters with such
life that they become as
real to you as your very
own family. My
goodness, and just who
wouldn’t want all those
Campbell brothers as kin
– wow! But, let me start
from the beginning and
the introduction of our
intrepid heroine Mary
who is not well, being
in the early months of
her pregnancy, hiding
out in a damp and dreary
cave with a cross-bow
and holding both the
Campbell and her own MacLachlan clans at
bay. Right from the
start I was fascinated
that one wee lass could
dictate to two seasoned
warriors. At most times
I would not like a
domineering type of
heroine but the author
did an amazing job of
showing that Mary was
not this Amazon type
female but one with
courage and
determination who was
well within her rights
to be disgusted and used
by both Alexander and
Collin. Not only was she
calling the shots at
that point but when she
made her escape, I was
chuckling right along
with her at how easily
she slipped through
their defenses to steal
one of the leaders
horses and beat them to
Castle Lorne!
Alexander on the other
hand was brought up as a
warrior, and the
subtleties of courting
a woman were lost on
him. While he felt
terrible he at the
underhanded way he took
Mary’s innocence he felt
it was justified for her
protection as well as
his men. Unfortunately,
try telling that to a
lass who is discovered
naked and her lover
shows off the sheet
proving his claim as if
her embarrassment meant
nothing to him! (If
she’d had a cross bow
then – I doubt there’d
be a story!) Alexander
had a long road ahead of
him to get back in
Mary’s good graces, and
the mockery comments
from his brothers and
clansmen were only too
funny to those of us
reading about it and
not being in his
shoes.
Unfortunately, not every
one was happy with the
outcome and Mary’s
father did not like
being defied or losing!
So as the couple try to
come to some amicable
arrangement, anger from
a spurned lover, and
angry kin are not about
to let Mary and
Alexander find reaching
a common ground without
stirring up as much
danger and problems as
they possibly can.
Bottom line – this
dynamite story had
everything I look for
including a sizzling
love story, vivid
historical details of
daily living,
yummy
heroes, a feisty but
loving and caring
heroine, adventure,
betrayal and a dash of
suspense. This
captivating story
from a
very accomplished word
wench will be very
difficult to put down!

Highland Moonlight
Teresa Reasor has set the standard high for
medieval romance with Highland Moonlight. This book is so
captivating I read it twice!
This is a story about love and betrayal. It is also about pushing
aside preconceived notions to find the underlying truth of a
situation. Lady Mary MacLachlan has been treated very badly by
Alexander Campbell, so she demands protection from Alexander’s
father. Alexander feels he has violated her for a reason, so he
follows her to the castle to straighten things out between them but
finds himself in an enormous amount of trouble instead. One thing
leads to another, and Mary is pushed to wed him for the good of
those around her.
Highland Moonlight has such an engaging and intricate plot
it’s difficult to even begin to give the gist of it in such a short
review. It is really something that must be read and enjoyed. The
plot twists kept me spellbound and just when I thought I had it
figured out, the author threw in a new surprise! I think the
characters in this book are its strongest feature, though. Mary is
an amazing woman, someone I’d love to meet and have for a friend.
She’s smart and strong and doesn’t let anyone push her around.
Alexander is a true hero, one who tries over and over to prove his
worthiness to Mary. This is a fabulous love story. Just writing
about it makes me think I’m going to be reading it again!

Kristal from Romance Reader at Heart
had this to say about Captive Hearts:
RRAH's THOUGHTS AND PONDERINGS:

I am happy to say that Teresa Reasor is continuing on
her winning streak with CAPTIVE HEARTS. A
willful heroine,
a studly Alpha male, a great romance
and terrific plot, all come together to make one heck of
a book.
Katherine has decided that she is finally willing to
allow her uncle to make a match for her. Ever since her
family's
horrid death three months ago, her uncle has
hounded her incessantly to find a husband before the
gossip
begins—gossip that he no doubt encourages and
adds to. On that horrible night, it wasn't just her
family that was
killed, but something was taken from her
that she can never get back. She was abused and shot
after witnessing
her brother, mother and father be
brutalized and then killed.
All of this has left her
terribly traumatized and ready to take control of her
own life. Katherine decides that the
best way to do that
is to marry a man who is about to die in prison so she
can take back control of her inheritance.
Once that is
settled, she figures that the lucky man will be happy
for his life and very willing to go on about his way
after they secure an annulment. She has no idea what a
mistake she has made in that assumption.
Matthew Hamilton sets eyes upon Katherine one time,
and he knows that he has been snared. He argues, at
first,
that he doesn't want to marry again after the
death of his wife four years ago, but all of his earlier
protestations
are mute the minute he sets eyes upon the
little hellion that is Katherine Leighton. Not only does
Matthew throw
all of his earlier convictions out of the
window concerning marriage, he has decided, unbeknownst
to Katherine,
that there is not going to be an
annulment. The fireworks alone that his decision set off
are worth reading the
entire book—and then some!
I will admit to being completely charmed by
Katherine's character when I first began to read. She is
spunky, plucky
and not afraid of any single thing—at
least, not anything that she will admit to. She has no
problem holding a gun to
her husband's groin or "inadvertently" injuring a prison guard who is
misbehaving with his inmates. That's just the
kind of
woman she is. She lets her displeasure be known, and no
one is going to take that pleasure from her.
I originally thought that her character was strong
enough to really take the lead in the story, but I found
that I
was completely wrong. Somewhere along the way,
Matthew laid claim to my heart. He became this
larger-than-life
hero who went to any lengths to see his
wife happy. If she is cold, he gives her his jacket; if
she is hungry, he gets
her food; when someone accosts her, he punches them out. His character gave depth and
intrigue to the story, and
it was an absolute joy to
watch him do everything in his power to win Katherine.
CAPTIVE HEARTS
is a lovely, warm read that
is action-packed and full of adventure and romance. So
pull up a nice
comfy chair and a cup of coffee, because
you are not going to want to put this one down, once
you've begun!
